News - On November 13, China International Contractor Engineering Association (CHINCA) held the 2009 China International Contractor Enterprises CSR Forum and awarding ceremony, announcing the list of enterprises that won in the selection. Based on the outstanding CSR performance over the years, Norinco International won the “2009 CSR Silver Award for Chinese International Contractor Enterprises”. On behalf of the company, President Wang Jinping received the Certificate and trophy, and signed on the CSR Manifesto of Chinese International Contractor Enterprises.

Themed “global responsibility; win-win harmony”, this selection is an important step taken by CHINCA to promote CSR construction among international contractor enterprises. By commending enterprises that excel in CSR construction, the event is aimed to publicize the achievements made international contractor enterprises in fulfilling their social responsibilities, set up examples in the industry, and drive industry-wide CSR construction. After a series of procedures, including strict evaluation by specialized 3rd party assessing organizations, re-check by Secretariat of the selecting committee, committee voting and public notice, altogether 14 enterprises won the “CSR Golden Award” and 21 won “CSR Silver Award”.

In recent years, with the continuous development of international contracting businesses, Norinco International has become more aware of the interrelation between fulfilling CSR and enhancing enterprise’s core competitiveness, and intensified CSR construction in multiple aspects, such as efforts to keep focusing on strategic management of CSR; emphasizing HR cultivation and protection of employees’ rights and interests; to deepen quality management and HSE management; to seek win-win cooperation with sub-contractors; and to stress repaying host countries of projects to promote local economic development in the long run, winning good reputation for the company, and helping the company harvest benefits both economically and socially.
